The Board is expected to meet tomorrow to finalize this critical decision. Whatever they decide on, I'm certain it will face many backlashes. For example, Cherrywood Elementary being on the top of the list doesn't necessarily mean it could easily be shut down because it is the assigned school in the District for enrolled Dual Immersion program individuals. Re-establishing the program setting as well as relocating the enrolled students and teachers is not an easy task. On the other hand, schools such as Toyon, Laneview, and Summerdale are under Title I status. They're meant to provide additional educational support through federal funding to students who may need extra help to reach academic standards. So removing any of these schools could set a huge setback and deter the quality of education for the enrolled kids.
Needless to say, there ain't any good options here! Hundreds of kids and families will be disappointed, disjointed, and pretty pissed, I'm sure.
