The City of San Jose continues its effort to make downtown SJ a destination. The City Council unanimously authorized negotiations to turn St. James Park into an outdoor music venue. Thanks to a partnership with the National Levitt Foundation, the plan includes a concert pavilion, picnic areas, gardens, a dog park, a playground, and other "proposed" cool stuff! Hoping to turn this underused space into a true community destination.
St. James Park is a great space, it's pretty huge and a good location near San Pedro Square downtown, just right now it's known for being pretty rundown.
Sooooo, hopefully once completed (if approved), the Levitt Pavilion will host 50 free, family-friendly concerts each year, along with performances from local arts and community groups. It’s a big investment in downtown and could make this area a bit more appealing to date nights and family gatherings. I mean, live music sitting on the grass on a sunny day? What's not to like?
